The Department of Design of the Academy of Fine Arts trains specialists in the field of design in the educational programs “Graphic Design” and “Environmental Design” (bachelor’s and master’s levels).

The teachers of the department are recognized specialists, candidates of sciences, people’s, honored artists, honored artists who combine pedagogical and professional activities. Regular internships allow them to introduce the latest tools and teaching methods. Constant updating of programs and use of current literature contributes to high-quality educational results.

Scientific and pedagogical workers work on scientific topics related to the direction of graphic design and ethnocultural features in the architectural and landscape design of Transcarpathia. The results of research are integrated into the educational process, ensuring the relevance and innovation of educational programs.
The students of the department demonstrate high achievements, annually winning victories in prestigious all-Ukrainian and international competitions. They consistently work on solving tasks of varying complexity, forming deep professional competencies. After completing their studies, graduates receive a diploma and a formed professional portfolio, which confirms their readiness for a career. Many graduates work effectively in their specialty, create their own design studios and become employers.

At the current stage of development, the Department of Design of the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts is improving its positions in the fields of design, digital design (CDI), illustration, photography, animation, multimedia, communicative design, poster and typography, spatial (internal, external) environment, etc. Its activities are increasingly focused on the progressive capabilities of digital technologies.

The Department of Design is actively developing all-Ukrainian and international cooperation. Close scientific and creative ties are secured by relevant agreements with leading institutions of higher art education in Ukraine and abroad.
